Drawing on a decade of experience in garden design, Kappy Hawkes brings her understanding of plants, colour, and natural composition to her ceramics. Her pieces are both functional and quietly expressive, designed to bring a sense of balance and connection to everyday spaces.
Her work includes vessels for cut flowers, alongside a wider range of functional pots. Influenced by the principles of Japanese ‘ikebana’ - arranging flowers with an emphasis on minimalism, asymmetry and empty space - she is attentive to the relationship between vessel and plant, creating forms that allow stems to sit naturally and be shown at their best. Her muted, earthy glaze palette draws on organic tones and textures that reflect the landscapes and plant life that inspire her.
Kappy is based in South London and works from a shared studio alongside a collective of potters.
